Rather than improving an existing process, 3P helps teams create better products, equipment, workspaces, and production systems before they are built.By emphasizing creativity, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration, 3P helps organizations reduce startup problems, eliminate waste early, and deliver better long-term results.

What You'll Learn
This poster explores:

What the Production Preparation Process (3P) is

When 3P should be used

The core principles behind successful 3P projects

How experimentation accelerates better designs

Why designing for quality upfront reduces future problems

Practical Guidance for Successful 3P Projects
More than an overview, this poster highlights key concepts that help teams approach design with confidence while avoiding common pitfalls.Inside you'll discover topics including:

Core 3P principles

Moonshining and rapid experimentation

Nature-inspired design concepts

Leadership guidance for successful projects

Practical preparation tips before implementation

Key reminders that support better design decisions

Perfect For

Lean Manufacturing

Production Preparation Process (3P)

Facility and Layout Design

New Product Introduction

Equipment and Process Design

Continuous Improvement Teams

Engineering and Operations

Lean Training Rooms

Why This Poster Belongs in Your Workplace
The greatest opportunity to eliminate waste often exists before production begins. By applying 3P principles during the design phase, organizations can prevent costly redesigns, improve quality, shorten startup time, and build more effective processes from day one.Part of the Velaction Continuous Improvement Terminology series, this poster serves as a practical reference for teams looking to apply 3P principles to create innovative, efficient, and customer-focused production systems.
